Manchester City will be looking to defend their top spot against Wolves
For Chelsea, the top of the table has gone out the window since last weekend and a derby defeat to West Ham. Instead, the champions now occupy the place in the sun again.
The Citizens will be looking to defend that favourite position in their match against Wolverhampton and given Wolves’ shaky form, they should be able to do so.
Furthermore, Newcastle will be looking for points after their first win of the season against Burnley in their clash with the equally inconsistent Leicester side. The clash between the Seagulls and Tottenham also promises to be exciting.
Spurs are on an upward curve after a change of manager, but their upcoming opponents from Brighton will not be easy to beat, as the footballers from the south coast have become fully specialised in drawing games – they are the only team to have ended more than half of their season games with a draw!
Brentford v Watford – 10 Dec, 21:00
The Bees have not been too strong at home so far: Only seven of their 17 points this season have been taken at home to Brentford Community Stadium. In addition, their form has been below average: Only five points have been recorded in the past eight rounds of matches.
The Hornets, for their part, arrive with a run of three straight defeats. However, the fixture list has been a tough one recently, with matches against the champions from Manchester, third-placed Chelsea and Leicester. In all of the matches, at least the attack has been reliable, scoring at least one goal each.
In contrast, the visitors are the only team in the division still waiting for their first clean sheet! Therefore, for the match between the two promoted sides at the Brentford Community Stadium in the Premier League within Matchday 16, tips on a goal celebration on both sides are interesting.
Manchester City v Wolverhampton – 11 December, 13:30
The Citizens have always picked up a win in the past five rounds of matches, with a win over PSG in the Champions League in between. Last Tuesday they suffered another defeat at the hands of RB Leipzig, but Manchester only fielded a better B eleven because qualification for the play-offs as group winners had long since been secured.
As a reward for their stable performances in the Premier League, the Blues once again took the top spot in the table on the last matchday, as mentioned at the beginning. In the upcoming clash, coach Pep Guardiola’s team can also rely on the home bonus: No team scores better on home soil than City and concedes fewer goals.
Furthermore, only Chelsea and Liverpool score more goals in their home games. Instead, Wolves arrive in shaky form. They have not won in three rounds (0-2-1) and have not scored a single goal.
For the clash in Manchester in the Premier League on matchday 16, value can thus be located in the odds on a home win to nil in the eyes of the betting public.
Arsenal v Southampton – 11 December, 16:00
The Londoners played their most recent match against Everton. The Gunners conceded a 2-1 defeat at Goodison Park last Monday night. The decisive goal came in injury time, but the Londoners were lucky to have two goals disallowed by the VAR.
The match was Arsenal’s third defeat in the last four rounds of matches. While the previous defeats were halfway excusable due to the strength of the opponents, the defeat at Liverpool, who had previously been extremely poor in form, represented a real step backwards.
The Saints, for their part, are not making any headway in the Premier League table. They currently occupy only 16th place and one reason for their poor season is the harmless attack with an average of less than one goal per league game. Furthermore, the team of Austrian coach Ralph Hasenhüttl has only recorded one victory away from home.
Given their respective recent lacklustre performances, predictions for a draw in London’s matchday 16 Premier League clash are worth considering.
Chelsea v Leeds United – 11 December, 16:00
The Blues conceded only their second defeat of the season in league action last weekend. Against West Ham, the Londoners were defeated with 2:3. Especially the defence has degraded: no clean sheet has been recorded for three match days.
The 3:3 against St. Petersburg last Wednesday in the Champions League also fits into the picture of a defence that has become shakier. Leeds, however, are an average opponent at best and have not won at Stamford Bridge for almost exactly 22 years (0-1-4).
The home side will also be expected to respond after their defeat to the Hammers.
Liverpool v Aston Villa – 11 December, 16:00
The Reds failed to extend their run of 18 games with at least two goals of their own last weekend. Against Wolves, they only managed a 1-0 away win, which was also fortunate as the decisive goal was scored by Belgian Origi in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
The visitors from Birmingham again arrive in a stable condition. Since the change of coach about a month ago, things have been going much better for the Villans. Under Steven Gerrard as manager, three wins have been recorded and only a narrow 2-1 loss to top of the table Manchester City was recorded.
Ollie Watkins, among others, can be credited with improving form in attack. The striker scored three of his four goals of the season in the review of the last three match days. For “Stevie G”, of course, the match on top is no normal one: Rather, it represents an unquestionably highly emotional return to Anfield Road for the LFC legend, which is why his team will be particularly motivated.
With this in mind, predictions of a mutual goal celebration are a good idea for the match at Anfield Road in the Premier League on matchday 16.
Norwich v Manchester United – 11 December, 6:30pm
The Canaries suffered their first defeat after four games without defeat last weekend. With 0:3 the away match at Tottenham was lost clearly and the defeat has the consequence that the promoted team is again bottom of the table.
Instead, Ralf Rangnick celebrated a successful debut as the new coach. The Red Devils, however, only defeated Crystal Palace at home to Old Trafford with a great deal of effort. Nevertheless, the record champions seem to have regained some composure with two recent victories.
For the clash in Norwich in the Premier League on matchday 16, the betting odds on an away win are of interest.
Brighton v Tottenham – 12 December, 15:00
The Seagulls are increasingly establishing themselves as draw specialists: the 1-1 draw in the recent south coast derby against Southampton was their eighth in 15 league games! This represents the highest value in a league-wide comparison. No less than nine of the past eleven competitive matches in the Premier League and EFL Cup ended in a draw after normal time.
Tottenham, however, is an opponent who has regained its strength. Since the change of coach, Spurs have clearly improved. This can be seen in their record of three wins and one draw in the league under new coach Antonio Conte. However, the tasks were consistently easy with in-form opponents such as Everton or Brentford.
In addition, the Capitals are generally less match-favourite away from home, with only seven of the season’s 25 points picked up away from home. For the clash on the south coast in the Premier League on matchday 16, bets on another draw are therefore worth considering.
Burnley v West Ham – 12 December, 15:00
The Clarets are one of the weakest teams at home in the top flight of British football. Only one of the six home games they have played has been victorious. BFC also gave Newcastle their first win of the season last weekend.
Instead, things are going better for the visitors: they beat the Blues, who had been top of the table until then, 3:2 in the London derby and the Irons are in a very good fourth place in the table. The interim phase of weakness with two defeats and a draw seems to have been overcome.
For the match at Turf Moor in the Premier League on matchday 16, predictions on an away win are of an interesting nature.
Leicester v Newcastle – 12 December, 15:00
The Foxes continue to lack consistency. With an almost even record of five wins, six defeats and four draws, they are currently only in eleventh place in the table of the British top flight. The visitors, on the other hand, recently achieved their long-awaited first win of the season.
As mentioned before, Burnley were beaten 1:0. A deserved victory and the decisive goal was once again scored by Callum Wilson. With six goals, the attacker has scored more than a third of all goals on the Magpies’ side.
For the clash at Leicester in the Premier League on matchday 16, tips on a mutual goal celebration are recommended. The visitors have the second-worst defence in the division and Leicester have also often failed to impress so far this season due to a shaky backline.
On the contrary, they concede the fourth most goals in the league. However, as the hosts’ attack continues to be stable, the home side’s matches are very high-scoring: 3.3 goals have been scored in the Foxes’ matches so far – the second-highest figure after Liverpool!
Moreover, goals on both sides have been almost the rule in Leicester’s matches lately: Twelve of the past 15 competitive games have seen this fixture pattern!
Crystal Palace v Everton – 12 December, 17:30
The Eagles last conceded a very late goal in their visit to Manchester against United and their third defeat in a row. Normally, however, the second half of the game is rather positive for the home side: Crystal Palace have scored 74 per cent of their goals after the break – only Aston Villa top this figure with 76 per cent.
The Toffees, on the other hand, are happy if they manage to score at all. This was once again the case last Monday evening. Thanks to a 2-1 home win against Arsenal, a series of eight winless rounds with no less than six defeats was stopped.
For the match in London in the Premier League within the 16th round of matches, predictions on another goal celebration by the hosts in the second half are nevertheless worth a recommendation.
