Will the Bulls stay in the European Cup?
RB Leipzig have it in their own hands to spend the winter in the European Cup. Of course, the Bullen will no longer be allowed to play in the Champions League, but at least the Europa League is still possible. A home win on Tuesday against Manchester City would consolidate third place, but it is also conceivable that a defeat will be enough.
Manchester City are already confirmed as group winners. With twelve points from five games, the Citizens can no longer be ousted from their place in the sun. Paris Saint-Germain have also reached the last 16 with eight points. RB Leipzig are level on points with Bruges, who are bottom of the table, with four points. The Saxons’ advantage is that the direct comparison against the Belgian champions is on their side.
This means that Brugge cannot pick up more points in their visit to Paris than the Bulls can at home against the Citizens. If the Belgians lose, then RasenBallsport can also afford a defeat. So the eyes and ears of the Leipzigers will also be at the Prinzenpark, because in their own game between RB Leipzig and Manchester City, the bookmakers tested tend to predict a win for the English.
Goals should definitely be expected. Together, RB and City have already scored 30 goals in the Champions League this season. The “Expected Goals” in this duel are 5.6, so it might be advisable to place a bet on over-goals in the match between RB Leipzig and Manchester City, maybe even on more than 3.5 goals.
RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form
The bulls are far from their season goals. At least the qualification for the Champions League should be it and for that they would have liked to winter in the top division. After three defeats in a row in the Bundesliga and a third place in the European Cup not being possible, the quarantined Jesse Marsch was parted with.
With Beierlorzer to the turnaround
Interim, co-coach Achim Beierlorzer is now expected to take over.Beierlorzer was also isolated until the weekend but is now expected to be back on the bench against the Citizens. The Bullen have dropped to eleventh place in the Bundesliga. It doesn’t sound like you need to play the odds on a home win in the clash between RB Leipzig and Manchester City.
Last Friday, the dress rehearsal in the Bundesliga was messed up. The Saxons lost 2-1 in the Ost derby at Union Berlin. Christopher Nkunku, one of RB’s few bright spots this season, levelled the early deficit, but the Eisern took the lead again shortly after the break and this time Leipzig never got back into the game.
Three defeats in the Bundesliga and the last three home games in the European Cup were also not won. In addition, the Bullen will be missing some important players on Tuesday. Dani Olmo, Amadou Haidara, Marcel Halstenberg, Yussuf Poulsen and Marcelo Saracchi are not available due to injury. With Emil Forsberg, Kevin Kampl and Mohamed Simakan, however, fresh personnel should move into the team.
Predicted line-up of RB Leipzig:
Gulacsi – Simakan, Klostermann, Gvardiol – Mukiele, Kampl. Laimer, Angelino – Nkunku, Forsberg – Andre Silva – Coach: Beierlorzer

Manchester City – Statistics & current form
Manchester City can take a relaxed approach to the away game in Leipzig. For the Citizens, it does not matter how the match turns out, because first place in the group is not to be taken away from the English. Nevertheless, it is likely that Pep Guardiola will go all out to win the Leipzig encounter, simply to stay in the flow.
Seven wins in a row
Currently, the Citizens are doing very well. There have been seven wins in the last seven competitive games. In the Premier League, City also took over the top of the table last weekend. The English are doing extremely well and therefore the prediction in the match between RB Leipzig and Manchester City can only go to a victory for the visitors.
Last Saturday, the Lightblues were guests of Watford FC. After one hour, the game was decided. After a goal by Raheem Sterling and a brace by Bernardo Silva, Manchester led 3-0. The goal conceded to make the final score 1:3 will probably only have pissed off Pep Guardiola as a perfectionist.
In terms of personnel, extreme rotation is expected. However, given the size of the Citizens’ squad, this does not mean that a weaker team will be fielded. Compared to the weekend, there could be six or seven changes. Only Ferran Torres is injured and will probably not be an option in Leipzig on Tuesday.
Predicted Manchester City line-up:
Ederson – Walker, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko – Fernandinho – de Bruyne, Gündogan, Mahrez – Foden, Gabriel Jesus – Coach: Guardiola

12/04 2021 – Watford 1 – 3 Manchester City

11/24 2021 – Manchester City 2 – 1 Paris Saint-Germain

RB Leipzig – Manchester City Direct comparison / H2H balance
German teams are very fond of Manchester City as opponents in recent years. There has not been a defeat against a team from the Bundesliga for 14 games. The last time Bayern Munich managed a win against the Citizens was in November 2014. RB Leipzig, on the other hand, have lost all of their last three games against English clubs.
So the Bulls also conceded a defeat in the first leg in Manchester in a spectacular match. The Citizens won the match 6:3. Nathan Ake, Nordi Mukiele with an own goal, Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish, Joao Cancelo and Gabriel Jesus were the scorers for the English team. Christopher Nkunku was the only Leipzig player to score three times.
RB Leipzig – Manchester City tip
The Bulls are in a real crisis. Not much is happening in the Bundesliga at the moment. In addition, many players and coaches have been in quarantine in recent weeks and now coach Jesse Marsch has been fired. It is high time for a sense of achievement. Whether Manchester City is the right opponent will become clear on Tuesday.
The Citizens have recently celebrated seven victories in a row. However, nothing is at stake for the English on Tuesday, because the group victory is already in the bag.
We even expect the Saxons to show their current insecurity and that the English will take an early lead. We can imagine a bet on a handicap win for the visitors, but have decided to play the betting odds on HT/FT for the Citizens between RB Leipzig and Manchester City.
