Will Rayo keep their home whites?

Rayo Vallecano get a visit from Celta Vigo. The home side recently defeated FC Barcelona, thus sealing the already foreseeable fate of their opponents’ coach Ronald Koeman, who was forced to resign shortly after the defeat.

For the Madrilenians, the season is again going very well as a promoted team, with no less than fifth place in the table. This assessment cannot be made for the guests. The Galicians have only picked up around half as many points and are slipping ever further towards the relegation zone.

For the match at Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas between Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo, the forecast includes a home win (DNB).

Rayo Vallecano – Statistics & current form

The kickers from Vallecas picked up their third win in the review of the past five rounds of matches with the latest success against Barcelona. Especially the offensive is reliable: Only Real Madrid and the two clubs from Sevilla score more than the promoted team from La Liga 2.

Alvaro Garcia, among others, has blossomed. In his fourth season with the Franjirrojos, he has already scored four goals in eleven league games. A yield that the 29-year-old only had in the three previous seasons at the end of at least 35 games! Oldie Radamel Falcao is also a reliable player.

At 35 years of age, the Colombian is no longer dewy-eyed, but his flair for goals continues unabated. Although he has only played in six league games – and not infrequently only from the bench – the attacker also already has four goals for the season.

His signing from Galatasaray on a free transfer can therefore be seen as a clever move. The South American also contributed the decisive goal in the recent victory against Barcelona.

Rayo is particularly fond of scoring in front of his own crowd

The attacking line-up is also particularly efficient at home, with 13 of the 18 goals scored so far this season coming in their five home games. With this in mind, the odds on Rayo Vallecano scoring at least two goals against Celta Vigo are even better.

Only in their last win against FCB did the Vallecanos score less than twice! On top of that, the betting odds on a home win, including an interval lead by coach Andoni Iraola, are interesting. Four of the five home wins have already been recorded with a lead at the break tea by the 2018 second division champions!

Predicted line-up of Rayo Vallecano:
Dimitrievski – Catena – Saveljich – Fran Garcia – Balliu – Valentin – Comesana – Garcia – Trejo – Papazon – Falcao

Celta Vigo – Statistics & current form

Last year’s eighth-placed team conceded a painful home defeat to Real Sociedad last Thursday. Although they were absolutely equal to the Basques, they had to accept a 0:2 defeat. It was the third defeat in the last four rounds for the three-time champions of the Spanish lower division.

The hoped-for upswing from the previous win at Getafe has thus not materialised for the time being. In addition, the pressure on the Himmelblauen is slowly but surely increasing: The relegation zone is now threateningly close to Celta Vigo due to the form crisis.

Aspas is declining in attack
On the offensive, Iago Aspas, the top scorer of recent years, is no longer as reliable as he used to be. The 34-year-old has only scored three goals and it is obvious that his advanced age means that he is no longer able to match his earlier performances.

In the past six seasons, Aspas had always delivered a double-digit goal output. There is also room for improvement for his striker partner Santi Mina. He is the visitors’ top scorer with four goals and has three assists to his name, but the former Spain youth international is struggling to finish.

Predicted line-up of Celta Vigo:
Dituro – Murillo – Araujo – Mallo – Tapia – Galan – Nolito – Beltran – Mendez – Mina – Aspas

Rayo Vallecano – Celta Vigo Direct comparison / H2H record

The last head-to-head encounter took place in Galicia in May 2019 and ended in a 2-2 draw, with Iago Aspas contributing both of Vigo’s goals. Otherwise, however, there has been little to celebrate for the Celtinas at Rayo in the recent past: the last five guest games in the capital were lost and only in one of those games did the home side not score at least three goals!

For the next edition of Rayo Vallecano vs Celta Vigo, the odds are nevertheless only razor-thin in favour of the hosts.

Rayo Vallecano – Celta Vigo Tip

The “Celestes” arrive in a fickle state. Only two of the last five games were won and the victories were only against the basement children from Getafe and Granada. For the match between Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo, the tip is therefore for a home win (DNB). The stable condition of the promoted team also speaks in favour of this.

This can be seen in the fifth place they currently occupy. Most recently, FC Barcelona was beaten. Although the Catalans have seen much better days, the victory once again proved Rayo’s home strength. The Madrilenians have won all five home games so far and have scored an average of 2.6 goals.

The prediction is backed up by the statistics: the home side have also won all of their last five home games against Viga and have an impressive goal difference of 16:4! Unibet offers odds of 1.72 on the match between Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo for this prediction.
