Basement clash – winless home side are challenged
The tenth matchday in the Spanish LaLiga will be concluded on Monday evening with an absolute basement duel. Getafe and Celta Vigo face each other in the suburbs of Madrid. The home side are one of two teams still without a win in the Spanish top flight and are in danger of losing touch with the rescue bank at an early stage.
The visitors from Galicia are currently above the ominous line, but the Himmelblauen cannot be satisfied with their results so far this season. They have seven points, five more than the home side. The bookmakers cannot see a clear tendency and therefore offer relatively balanced betting odds on Getafe against Celta Vigo.
With just two points from seven games, it’s hard to talk of an upward trend, but at least Getafe have managed two draws recently after seven opening defeats. At the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Monday from 20:45, Getafe will make their tenth attempt to finally record a win.
Getafe – Statistics & current form
For just under five years, Pepe Bordalas was at Getafe and established the club in the Spanish LaLiga. Bordalas has since joined the bats from Valencia and Michel was introduced as his successor. However, his tenure ended ingloriously after just eight matchdays. After seven opening defeats, even the first point win on matchday eight was not enough for him to continue to be trusted.
Quique Sanchez Flores returns
Quique Sanchez Flores was introduced as the new head coach during the international break. The motto “all good things come in threes” probably applies here, as the now 56-year-old Spaniard was already with the capital eleven in the 2004/05 season (38 games, average 1.24 points) and from January-February 2015 (eleven games, average 1.18 points).
His debut last weekend was in the basement duel against UD Levante. In the clash of the two winless teams, both teams missed the liberation blow and the game ended with a goalless draw. A point that doesn’t do either team much good.
Only three goals in nine games
Already in recent years and Bordalas, Getafe was not a team that stood for a strong offensive department, but rather a team that came to success through superior defensive work. This defensive stability is missing in the 2021/22 season and the offensive is also acting weaker.
In the first nine league games, Getafe could only score a meagre three goals. Conceding 13 goals in nine games is not exactly what you would expect from a team at the bottom of the league. On average, a meagre 1.78 goals per game have been scored so far. Accordingly, in the basement duel between Getafe and Celta Vigo, only odds of around 1.50 are offered for the prediction of an under 2.5.
Predicted line-up of Getafe:
Soria – Olivera, Cuenca, Djene, Suarez – Arambarri, Florentino, Timor, Alena – Maksimovic – Ramirez

10/16 2021 – Levante 0 – 0 Getafe
10/03 2021 – Getafe 1 – 1 San Sebastian
09/26 2021 – Real Betis 2 – 0 Getafe

Celta Vigo – Statistics & current form
The current crisis at the Himmelblauen from Galicia comes as quite a surprise. Last season, head coach Eduardo Coudet’s team was still one of the big surprises in LaLiga and finished the season in a very strong eighth place in the table – the best result since the 2015/16 season.
Few goals also at Celta Vigo
Although the Argentine coach can still count on the almost identical team, the results are absolutely disappointing. It is also striking that, as a rule, there are hardly any goals to be seen in matches involving Coudet’s eleven. The only exception was the heavy 2:5 defeat against Real Madrid.
If the seven goals from that match are counted out, just twelve goals (5:7 goal ratio) were scored in the remaining eight league matches. In each of the last four league games, the bet was right that both teams would not score. In addition, the last three games have ended with a 1-0 score – besides a win against Granada, there were two defeats against Elche and Sevilla. With these numbers, betting on a riskier under 1.5 between Getafe and Celta Vigo is also quite lucrative.
The previous year gives hope
Last season was considered the best in several years – and despite the current crisis in results, this is a small glimmer of hope. In the 2020/21 season, Celta Vigo had only seven points after nine games and an even worse goal difference (6:12). It was only as the season progressed that the turnaround was achieved.
Predicted line-up of Celta Vigo:
Dituro – Galan, Aidoo, Murillo, Mallo – Beltran – Nolito, Suarez, Mendez – Aspas, Mina
Last matches played by Celta Vigo:
LaLiga
10/17 2021 – Celta Vigo 0 – 1 Sevilla
10/03 2021 – Elche 1 – 0 Celta Vigo
09/27 2021 – Celta Vigo 1 – 0 Granada
09/21 2021 – Levante 0 – 2 Celta Vigo
09/17 2021 – Celta Vigo 1 – 2 Cadiz
Getafe – Celta Vigo Direct comparison / H2H record
20 times the two teams have faced each other in the Spanish top flight so far. The balance could hardly be more even, as Getafe have won seven times, seven other games have ended in a draw and six times Celta Vigo have celebrated a victory.
It is striking that the home advantage is actually given in this duel, both teams could only celebrate one victory each in the stadium of their rivals. Celta Vigo achieved this success at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in the 2015/16 season, while the previous year saw a 1-1 draw at Getafe and a 1-0 home win for Celta Vigo. Thus, in the last four matches between Getafe and Celta Vigo, the prediction on the under 2.5 was the correct choice.
Getafe – Celta Vigo Tip
This match on Monday night will certainly not be a treat. After the disappointing start to the season, the pressure is very high on both sides, moreover, the teams are by no means considered to be playful and offensively oriented teams, but rather defensive specialists. Accordingly, a bet on an under bet between Getafe and Celta Vigo is also recommended in the Top Tips.
In the three-way market, our tendency is towards the guests from Galicia. This is a little surprising due to the direct comparison, as Celta Vigo have only won once in LaLiga at Getafe so far, but the performances shown by both teams have been more respectable for the Himmelblauen.
Getafe is hardly existent in the offensive game, while Celta Vigo can create far more danger with the experienced players like Nolito or Iago Aspas. Therefore, at the end of the tenth LaLiga matchday between Getafe and Celta Vigo, a bet of five units is recommended for the prediction on the away win.
