No points for the Canaries again?
Relegation clash at Turf Moor! In the English top flight, the match between the bottom team from Burnley and the bottom team from Norwich is scheduled for this weekend. Both teams have not yet been able to record a win. The visitors, one of three promoted teams, are still waiting for their first point this season.
In six matchdays, the Canaries from Norwich have suffered six defeats so far. In total, the second division champions have scored 16 times. It is quite possible that the negative streak will continue at Burnley FC. After all, Norwich don’t exactly have the best record at Turf Moor.
The Clarets have lost only one of their last seven home games against Norwich City. That defeat came in the 2019/20 FA Cup, where the Canaries from Norwich were able to eliminate Burnley in the last 32 with an away win.
Meanwhile, there is little argument – at least according to Premier League statistics – to reinforce a prediction on the visitors in Burnley vs Norwich. Head coach Daniel Farke’s side are in free fall and have not been convincing in either attack or defence.
Burnley – Statistics & current form
Last week, Burnley FC narrowly missed out on an away win against Leicester City. The “Clarets” were in the lead for long periods against the Foxes, only conceding a goal five minutes before the end of normal time to draw 2-2. In addition, a last-minute goal by Burnley FC was disallowed by the video referee.
The next attempt at a first win of the season will be against Norwich City on matchday seven of the Premier League. The recent home record against the Canaries is particularly encouraging. In the league, be it Premier League or Championship, Burnley FC have won all home games against the visitors from Norwich since April 2004
The last time the “Clarets” hosted the Canaries at Turf Moor in the Premier League, there was a comfortable home victory (2-0) in which Burnley FC even went without conceding a goal. In the same season, Burnley also beat Norwich City in the second leg. Now the “Clarets” are aiming for a third win in a row against the Canaries in the Premier League.
Will Burnley take their recent momentum with them?
There has been a clear upward trend in Sean Dyche’s side over the last two competitive games. The “Clarets” were particularly convincing on the offensive, with the second-bottom of the Premier League scoring a total of six goals against teams like Rochdale (EFL Cup) and Leicester (Premier League).
If recent performances continue, it should only be a matter of time before Burnley FC score the first goal against Norwich City on Saturday. Saturday’s opponents are, after all, the league’s top scorers, conceding on average more than one goal per league game.
Sean Dyche will probably only have to do without Cornet, Roberts and Stephens for the home game against the Canaries. On the other hand, Vydra and Rodriguez, two players who have been injured, will be back in the squad on Saturday.
Predicted Burnley line-up:
Pope – Lowton, Mee, Tarkowski, Taylor – Gudmundsson, Brownhill, Westwood, McNeil – Wood, Barnes

Norwich – Statistics & current form
At the start of the season, the Canaries’ false start could still be glossed over with the demanding fixture list. In the meantime, however, the form crisis has worsened for the second division champions, who have not only suffered six defeats in the first six match days. Norwich City also conceded 16 goals and thus have the weakest defensive line in the league
Daniel Farke’s team did not perform badly on the last two matchdays, but lacked the little bit of luck to bag the first points this season. This was also the case in the recent away game at Liverpool, where Norwich City actually had more of the game against Everton.
In contrast to the Toffees, who managed to score two goals, the Canaries missed out on a goal. The result was by no means surprising; after all, only two goals – both by Teemu Pukki, mind you – had been scored in the previous five matchdays.
Is the crisis worsening for the Canaries?
Although Daniel Farke has been a fixture at Norwich City for a number of years, it remains to be seen how the board will react to their false start to the 2021/22 season. Meanwhile, the Canaries’ long-serving manager is skating on thin ice. A defeat in the relegation battle against Burnley FC, Norwich’s neighbours in the table, would be fatal under the current circumstances.
It is therefore already a “do or die” game for the Premier League’s bottom team. The last time Norwich City visited Turf Moor, it was a narrow away win in the FA Cup 2020, which allowed the Canaries to end their ongoing negative streak at Burnley’s Turf Moor.
Prior to the latest away win, Norwich had not won a competitive game at their upcoming opponents since April 2004. Now, if an away coup is also achieved in the Premier League, attractive odds will be paid out for a bet on the visitors at Burnley vs. Norwich.
Predicted Norwich line-up:
Krul – Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Williams – Gilmour, Normann, Lees Melou – Rashica, Pukki, Sargent

Burnley – Norwich Direct Comparison / H2H Record
Competitively, this will be the 42nd meeting between the two clubs. So far Burnley FC leads the direct comparison against Norwich City. The Clarets, meanwhile, have a record of 19-7-15 in 41 games. At Burnley’s Turf Moor, the Canaries have won just once in 18 attempts at league level.
Furthermore, Norwich have conceded at least one goal in each of their 18 away games. It would therefore be more than daring, especially in the current condition of the promoted side, to make a prediction on the visitors at Burnley against Norwich.
Burnley – Norwich Tip
The visitors from Norwich have been among the “Clarets'” favourite opponents in the recent past – especially at Turf Moor. Burnley FC have won six of their last seven home games against Norwich. Considering how poorly the Canaries started the 2021/22 season, it is by no means out of the question that Burnley will build on that record against Norwich.
In contrast to the visitors, the Burnley hosts have made a positive impression in their last two competitive games. Less than a week ago, the last but one team in the table even narrowly missed an away coup at the Foxes from Leicester. Only a few minutes before the end of normal time did they concede the goal that led to a draw.
Building on last week’s strong performance, it’s natural to expect Burnley to score three for the first time this season this weekend. We see the home side ahead in the relegation clash between the Premier League’s bottom and bottom side and would therefore tend to recommend betting on a home win
For Burnley vs. Norwich, meanwhile, betting odds of 1.90 are offered for a tip on the “Clarets”. We use a total of six out of ten possible units for this
