Does BTSV continue their run in Duisburg?
When lions meet zebras, what happens is almost pre-programmed, at least in the animal kingdom. In view of the current situation in the 3rd division, however, it could well happen that the lions also make short work of the zebras in football. After all, MSV have already lost five of their eight league games, while BTSV have only one defeat to their name.
However, Eintracht suffered a serious setback during the week when they were knocked out of the Lower Saxony State Cup, which they now need to shake off. Nevertheless, in the run-up to the match between Duisburg and Braunschweig, the odds are clearly in favour of the visitors.
In league play, BTSV have finally remained unbeaten in five consecutive games and have returned to the upper echelons of the table with eleven points out of a possible 15. If the Lions also win next week in the catch-up game, they could even be directly involved in the promotion race.
Nevertheless, in view of the lack of consistency of Duisburg, who have already beaten another relegated team, Osnabrück, it is very difficult to make a prediction on the outcome of the match between Duisburg and Braunschweig. A bet on a rather low-scoring game with a maximum of two goals is much more consistent.
Germany Duisburg – Statistics & current form
The last time MSV Duisburg played in the Bundesliga was in the 2007/08 season. Since then, the Zebras have spent eight seasons in the 2. Bundesliga and five seasons in the 3. Liga, where they are now entering their sixth season overall.
At the end of a complicated 2020/21 season, the Meiderich side barely managed to stay in the league with only 43 points under Pavel Dotchev, finishing 15th in the final table. 17 players turned their backs on the Blue and Whites.
Three wins already, but also five defeats
The situation of the team from the Ruhr area, which has already lost eight league games so far, is correspondingly complicated for the new season. The fact that MSV are not in a relegation spot is only due to the fact that the other three matches were all won, which means that they still have nine points on the record.
However, it should also be noted that two of the three victories were against the current number 19 (2:0 against Würzburg) and 20 (3:0 against Havelse) in the current table. Of the potential promotion contenders, the Zebras have so far only scored against current third-placed Osnabrück.
Since three home games against Braunschweig without a win
All parts of the team still have room for improvement. Only eight goals were scored by the offensive team, which recently failed to score for the third time in league play in the 0:1 loss to Türkgücü München. The defence, on the other hand, has only conceded three goals and has already conceded a total of eleven.

Germany Braunschweig – Statistics & current form
Eintracht Braunschweig have had several turbulent years. The German champions of 1967 were relegated from the 2. Bundesliga in 2018 and only narrowly avoided relegation to the Regionalliga in the following year in the 3. Liga.
The very next year, the Löwen were then promoted back to the second division under Marco Antwerpen, from which they bid farewell again this summer after just seven wins in the 2020/21 season.
Last eleven points from a possible 15
Now, on the one hand, it is a matter of not making the same mistakes as in 2018/19, when relegation almost resulted in a free fall into fourth-class status, while, on the other hand, possible promotion opportunities must also be explored. In fact, BTSV, who play a catch-up game against Freiburg 2 next week, have lost only one of their first seven league games.
That defeat came against promoted Viktoria Berlin on the second matchday with a 4-0 loss. In the five games that followed, however, they scored eleven points out of a possible 15 and conceded only three more goals. If the Lions also win the post-match match, they could jump up to third place.
Blamable exit in the national cup during the week
The Lower Saxons could actually be satisfied with the current status quo. If it wasn’t for the disgraceful performance in the Lower Saxony State Cup, from which BTSV bowed out on penalties against Hildesheim on Wednesday. It is therefore all the more important to improve on their recent performances in the league against the inconsistent Duisburg team.
In principle, there is a lot to be said for the Duisburg vs Braunschweig tip 2 to work out. Ultimately, however, betting on less than 2.5 goals is the more sustainable betting option, given the somewhat too many contingencies and inconsistent performances of both opponents.
Predicted line-up of Braunschweig:
Fejzic – Kijewski – Schultz – Behrendt – Wiebe – Nikolaou – Krauße – Zauner – Henning – Multhaup – Lauberbach

Head to head: 21 – 22 – 18
Duisburg and Braunschweig are truly old acquaintances who are now facing their 60th meeting. The balance is very even. The last time the two teams faced each other was in the 2019/20 season in the 3rd division. The last encounter in Duisburg resulted in a 1-1 draw.
United Kingdom Duisburg – Braunschweig United Kingdom Tipp
For Duisburg against Braunschweig, the forecast has to take into account that both teams still have to improve significantly in terms of consistency. MSV have already suffered five defeats in three victories, while BTSV have remained unbeaten in league play for five consecutive matches after a poor start, but most recently fluffed in the Lower Saxony State Cup. Accordingly, it is risky to try the three-way system for this encounter.
Instead, we are betting on a maximum of two goals. After all, the Löwen’s defence has been very stable lately, conceding only three goals in the last five games. This compares to MSV, who have also conceded a maximum of two goals per league match in three of their last four league matches.
